What Inbox Atlas never does
Nine things that hold for the free view, the cleanup and Upkeep alike.

It never deletes anything permanently.
In Inbox Atlas, delete always means Trash. Your mail provider keeps trashed mail for a while before it empties the Trash (Gmail keeps it for 30 days), and every cleanup can be undone for 30 days.

It never moves anything to Trash without a verified backup and your approval.
Before any message goes to Trash, Inbox Atlas copies it into your own Google Drive or OneDrive and checks the copy by count and size. Then you approve that run yourself. This holds for Upkeep too: its weekly proposal waits for you, and if you do nothing, nothing is deleted.

It never reads message bodies or attachments.
It reads headers (sender, recipients, date, subject, mailing-list markers), the short preview your provider shows, labels, flags and sizes, and nothing else. When you run a cleanup, the backup copies whole messages from your mail provider straight into your own storage; they pass through without being read or kept.

It never stores message bodies, raw messages or attachments on its servers.
What it does keep, and for how long, is on the privacy page: sender-level summaries, and per-message details whose subjects and previews are cleared once they have been used.

It never acts as you.
It never sends email as you, and never replies, forwards or unsubscribes on your behalf.

It never lets your mail be used to train language models.
Sender-level subjects and previews go to one outside processor, Anthropic, which writes the one-line description of each sender and helps sort senders into parts of life. Its terms forbid training on them, and they go nowhere else.

It never touches a real mailbox in the demo.
The demo reads a fictional mailbox, and its cleanup is a simulation. Nothing is read from or written to any real account.

It never proposes deleting what matters.
Mail from people, anything you opened or replied to, anything with an attachment, anything under 30 days old, and anything from Finance, Government, Health or Legal senders is never proposed for deletion.

It never mixes mailboxes, and it has no categories of your own yet.
In this first version, an account connects one Gmail or Outlook mailbox, and senders are sorted into a fixed set of fourteen parts of life. You cannot define your own categories yet.
