What your first scan looks like
This is a time-lapse of the first scan of a fictional mailbox of 15,000 messages, sped up so it takes about a minute. Inbox Atlas reads your mail newest first, and the Map fills in as it goes, with the progress and an estimate above it.
A real Gmail scan reads about 300 messages a minute, so 10,000 messages take about 35 minutes. You can close the page while it runs, and Inbox Atlas emails you when it is done. Nothing here is real: the mailbox and every sender are made up, and nothing is sent.

Each block is sized by how many emails it sent you, or, with By size, by how much storage those emails use. A white dot marks mail from the last 7 days, and a pill counts unread emails. Click or tap a block to open it; the path above takes you back. With a keyboard, the arrow keys move between blocks, Enter opens one and Escape goes back.
